At the NFPA Meeting in June 7, 2022, the UMD FPE Alumni Club held its annual meeting and dinner. We had a great turnout with over 100 alumni and guests enjoying a fun night of food, drinks and conversation. We also held our business meeting, which included a Department update from Jim Milke, the introduction of the newest FPE faculty member, Dr. Shuna Ni, who will join the Department this summer, and a $15,000 financial contribution to the Department from the Alumni Club.
This meeting also marked a transition in leadership for the Alumni Club. After 2 years of serving as the President of the club, my term has come to a close, and I am happy to announce the new Board of Directors for the Alumni Club:
President: Stewart Levy (’84)
Vice President: Bryan Derr (’05)
Secretary: David Stacy (’11)
Treasurer: Rosalie Wills (’13, ’15)
At Large: Atif Qureshi (’97), Brian O’Connor(’20), Joe Meyer (’13), Noah Ryder (’99, ’00)
It has been a pleasure serving on the Alumni Club Board over the last 8 years. Fire protection engineering has been an incredible field of work so far in my career and it has been an honor to give back in a small way to this profession which has provided so much to me. Serving on the Club Board has also provided me with the opportunity to meet countless other UMD FPE alumni that I never would have met otherwise.
I look forward to continued participation in the Club as a member and would encourage all members to consider serving in a leadership position at some point in the future.
Regards,
Chris Campbell (’11, ’12)
